..through the medium of Vintage Sewing Patterns.
I discovered this classic deep in my stash recently. Apparently I was a size 12 back when I was 18 years old and sewed this the last time.
I loved this pattern, especially the jacket which was so cool. I made it from a length of raw tussah silk from my mum’s stash. I think she had it from India – my dad and grandfather both travelled abroad for work so one of them must have brought it back with them.
This time around I’m using some tweedy wool blend that I bought a few years ago. It’s got pink and olive and navy and purple – a really yummy mix. I’m really excited to be sewing for myself again. I have a new body to sew for (I lost 60lb in 2025) so there will be fitting issues I’m sure, but that’s all part of the fun.
And the jacket will also be my entry for the 2026 Stash Contest over at Pattern Review.
